REASONS TO CONTRIBUTE TO UNITED CHURCH HOMES

"By supporting our Life Enrichment Fund, you're helping us provide financial assistance for residents in need."

Quality retirement and health care for those who need it, not just to those who can afford it.

Over the years, we have helped an average of 350 United Church Homes residents each year by providing some form of financial assistance. This "Benevolent Care" is made possible through caring financial gifts to the Life Enrichment Fund.

Why Do We Have Underfinanced Residents?

Some of our residents have simply outlived their own financial resources. Our goal is to continue meeting their needs for as long as they live.

Unexpectedly, some of our residents may require nursing care. Medicaid does not pay all of the cost of quality care, and we have to "make up" the difference in their health care costs.

In addition, because United Church Homes is a Christian ministry, we provide some services that for-profit communities may not. These include a full-time Chaplain, regular worship services, and spiritual consultation. These services are not covered by Medicaid.

How Much Is Needed to Care for Underfinanced Residents?

The specific amount of benevolent care required each year varies. United Church Homes' budget need in 2004 was approximately $3,381,670 to care for 373 residents.

How Do We Raise the Needed Money?

Individuals—such as staff, residents, Society of Stephen members and other friends; Churches and church groups; and corporations support the Life Enrichment Fund with tax-deductible contributions each year.

Annual Campaign

Our Annual Campaign provides friends of United Church Homes the opportunity to make direct gifts of cash and/or personal property. Many people take this opportunity to honor the life or memory of a loved one with a special Commemorative Gift.

Society of Stephen

This membership organization is made up of individuals and couples who support United Church Homes with an annual, minimum donation of $100 or more.

Planned Giving

Our Planned Giving Program provides for life income gifts as a unique and lasting way of support. In addition to providing for a bequest to United Church Homes in one's last will and testament, life income gifts can be used to provide needed income to the donor, while also benefiting United Church Homes in the future.
