The Wetzel Memory Care Program
The Wetzel Memory Care Program is designed specifically for persons with Alzheimer's disease or related memory disorders. Our philosophy is to deliver care with a very structured approach based on the individual needs and abilities of each resident.
Our purpose is to promote whole person wellness, focusing on our residents’ physical health, memory support, emotional well-being, and spiritual support.
Our programs are designed to provide a sense of purpose and self-preservation, recognizing the individual by valuing their past lifestyles, experiences, and family relationships.
Our Memory Care Program is staffed with hand-selected, specially trained professional caregivers who understand the complex issues related to dementia.
The Wetzel Special Care Unit was dedicated on October 23, 1994 in honor of The Rev. Dr. E. Eugene Wetzel. The creation of this area for care of people with Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias, was a direct result of Gene’s dedication, love and concern for older adults, especially those afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease.
The environment is designed to promote a sense of home with a kitchenette, dining room, living room, and large courtyard garden. Special attention is given to maintaining noise levels and minimizing other distractions which can cause disorientation. Residents living in the Wetzel area benefit from a full day of social programs and therapeutic activity.
